I'm in Italy for a dream drive in the new Pagani Utopia! Equipped with a V12 engine, and a manual gearbox, this one-of-99 hypercar is everything as special as you imagine, with nowhere better to experience it for the first time than Motor Valley around Pagani HQ. Now, come along for the ride!

Following on the heels of Zonda and Huayra, the Utopia was born under the codename C10, but very much bringing a third chapter in the amazing 25 year history to date of Pagani Automobili. Utopia by name is a place of which we dream, something that does not exist - as defined by philosopher, Thomas Moore, and that is exactly what this car is like when you start to take it all in.

Unusually in the modern era, it is entirely powered by an internal combustion engine, there's no hybrid system, but purely a 6.0l Twin Turbo V12 that produces 864ps and an extraordinary 1,100Nm. In turn that produces all sorts of complications that could easily be overcome by the use of an evolution to the Huayra's automated manual / sequential gearbox, however the team worked tireless to introduce an optional 7 speed dog-leg manual variant. What that means for driving comfort; balancing ease of use at low speeds with high end performance, well that's what we're going to find out.

Having previously visited Pagani to explore the museum, Atelier, and even spec my own dream Utopia, this time it's an opportunity to head out for the ultimate experience and to be able to share what it feels like to be lucky enough to jump into the driver's seat of a Pagani Utopia. There's no denying it is a stunning car to behold, a mixture of artistry and automotive perfection, and when you combine a manual gearbox with a V12 engine, it becomes quite literally a petrolhead's paradise.
