My Aston Martin Vantage GT8 doesn't appear often, but every time it does, wow is it special! What does it actually cost though to keep it in the collection? Let's have a run through of the annual running costs, maintenance and even depreciation with the numbers and figures from my ownership experience.

I've owned the GT8 for about 3.5 years and in that time there have been some fun memories, but I openly keep it more as a car to collect than one to drive frequently. It's a very special car and perhaps even more so by not being taken out overly often and therefore being an absolute treat on those rare occasions. You might wonder though, what would be the point in keeping it still?

Longer term viewers might remember the Road to GT8 series where I visiting the Aston Martin HQ in Gaydon, Warwickshire to follow this car throughout production; from the spray booth to the assembly line and even the various testing stages. Not only that but I signed my name on the chassis, on the back of the driver's headrest Alcantara, and even got to start it myself at the end of the line for the very first time. As such it holds a place in my heart that is beyond defined logic and well into the emotional space.

So what's involved now in keeping it in the garage? Of course there's a depreciation element, it also carries annual costs including insurance, warranty, servicing, storage, road tax and so forth. I'll run you through some of the exact figures behind it and what that has totaled over the years to date while taking it out for a drive.
