My Ford GT was always going to get pulled over by police in the USA at some point! Driving around the country with my UK licence plates causes a lot of confusion and as such in San Francisco we saw this coming the moment the cops spun around behind us.

Fair play to the officers in question, they were very polite and friendly as I explained how the system works with a temporary import of a vehicle to the United States. As a visitor to the country you are allowed to drive it here for a period up to 12 months on the foreign plates and hence I've been touring around the whole country exactly as you see it. The normal assumption is that the car is not displaying tags at all because they are so unfamiliar from the normal US style plates, regardless of which state the car is from.

Anyway, all checked out, the documents showed exactly what they needed to and on we go again! I'm sure this won't be the last time the car is pulled over to explain, after it happened for the first time in New York City. Thank you to the cops in question for being so helpful and kind in the process.
